The Hexagon Absolute Arm series includes 7-axis and 6-axis articulated arms with three accuracy levels: 83, 85, and 87 series. With seven model sizes across these accuracy tiers, the Hexagon (ROMER) Absolute Arm offers a total of 36 distinct arm configurations. For applications requiring a more compact measurement system, the Absolute Arm Compact provides ultra-high-accuracy touch probe measurements for small to medium-sized components.

Absolute Arm Series and Sizes

Series

The Absolute Arm models are available in three series, each reflecting their accuracy levels. For detailed accuracy specifications per ISO 10360-12, refer to the Absolute Arm brochure.

83 Series: Ideal for users with basic metrology needs, offering entry-level accuracy at great value.
85 Series: Provides an excellent balance between cost and precision, suitable for a broad range of applications.
87 Series: The top choice for high-end portable measurement, offering the highest accuracy in portable measuring arms today.

Sizes

Absolute Arms are available in seven sizes. The smallest, the Absolute Arm Compact, has a measurement volume diameter of 1.2 meters. The full-sized models offer measurement volumes of 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 meters.

When selecting an arm size, consider that accuracy typically improves with a shorter arm due to its kinematic properties. Also, the listed size corresponds to the maximum recommended measurement volume diameter, though the actual maximum reach is usually 10-15% larger. Ensure accurate comparisons by checking that arm sizes are consistent with this standard.

The Absolute Arm Compact is the world’s most accurate and portable measuring arm, designed for ultra-high precision on small parts. It’s ideal for use on the shop floor, whether on a desktop or directly under a CNC machine for part alignment.

Absolute Arm 6-Axis

The Absolute Arm 6-Axis is ideal for users needing a full-sized articulated arm with a focus on touch probe measurements, offering exceptional single-point accuracy.

Absolute Arm 7-Axis

The Absolute Arm 7-Axis is the top model in the range, offering high-accuracy touch probing and fast, precise 3D laser scanning. It's a versatile tool designed to tackle a wide range of metrological challenges.

GridLOK for Absolute Arm

GridLOK is an expanded measurement solution that allows the Absolute Arm to measure larger parts and systems.

Accuracy: The Absolute Arm range offers probing accuracy as fine as only 6 microns and scanning system accuracy to within 39 microns. Perfect for quality control and reverse engineering.
Portability: True wireless connectivity and hot-swappable batteries give greater flexibility when moving the arm around the shop floor, along with full-speed WiFi scanning performance.
Movement: The unique Zero-G Counterbalance system and low-friction rotating grips reduce user fatigue and maximise accuracy by minimizing inertia.
Certification: Probing accuracy certified according to ISO 10360-12 as standard, along with full scanning system accuracy according to ISO 10360-8 Annex D. Accuracy verification can be performed directly by the user with a supplied CMM-certified artefact.
